The first post on a new blog is always a little awkward. Even though I’ve been writing for years, there is still something slightly terrifying about a blank page on a brand new blog.
So, I thought I’d start by telling you a little about me, what I do, and why you should read this blog.
If you’ve checked out any of the other pages on my website, you’ll probably already know I’m a freelance copywriter.
I’m often asked what this actually means, and it’s definitely something that seems to baffle people.
To cut a long story short, I’m NOT the man you go to when you want to copyright something, like a photograph or music on a CD (remember those?) Rather, I spend my time writing lots of content for businesses and agencies around the world.
As a creative copywriter, I write things like:
- Website copy and content
- Articles and blog posts
- Product descriptions
- Press releases
- White papers
- Print copy
I’ve even ghostwritten several books, but rather embarrassingly I haven’t yet got around to writing my own. Watch this space!
What is this blog and why should you read it?
Good question. I’ll be using this space to share my thoughts and insights on the wonderful world of copywriting, with plenty of helpful tips and tricks along the way. I hope you’ll find it useful and that you might be kind enough to consider reading my musings over your morning coffee.
